‘DOK’ Tool is a tangible interactive conversation tool the places the doctor’s conversation into the experience world of the child.
The tool empowers the child in participation and understanding of the medical triad. Through tangible tokens representing conversation topics, a collaborative agenda is built. The interactive table mat generates a visual of the conversation, that is printed out and given to the child to take home. In this way, the child does not go home empty-handed but with ownership of the conversation's content, that can be shared with for instance family.
DOK Tool was developed during my master graduation project in close cooperation with the Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis, currently we're testing DOK Tool in a pilot study.
